Thanks to a braided weave where the threads are doubled on the weft, the fabric takes on a "grainy" appearance

merino wool is a superfine, scaly fibre.
under its scales, it traps air bubbles,
which create an insulating film against the skin.
the latter maintains a constant temperature - the principle of thermoregulation-which delays perspiration.
