Frequently asked questions

FAQ'S! Here we collect all the questions that have been asked in the chat, by mail or in shop.

All the answers are on the site. We update them regularly. Let's get started!

question 1 a) is wool itchy?

1 b) Is wool warm?

1 c) does wool make you sweat?

1 d) what are the advantages of merino wool?

In the collective imagination, wool is an itchy, warm material.

This is rather true... for all "classic" sheep's wool. Those that are not identified as "superfine". They are then thicker than 40 microns and represent the bulk of the wools on the market.

It is completely wrong for the merino wool (or cashmere). The latter, from rare flocks of sheep (goats for cashmere) are of a very high quality. extreme finesse below 19 microns. Ours are between 17 and 17.5 microns.

Thanks to its great fineness, merino wool does not "itch". It is very fluid, soft and does not wrinkle very much. Above all, it maintains a constant temperature (thermoregulation). This prevents sweating.

Merino wool will therefore be ideal all year round. We use it for shirts breathable (as thin as cotton ones), with polo shirtss, the jumperss, the stretch blazerss, the poloshirts or trousers made of flannelthe and in dry wool !

question 2 a) is merino wool machine washable?

2 b) how to wash merino wool?

2 c) how to remove stains from wool?

Firstly, it should be remembered that merino wool washes less than other materials. Indeed, its anti-bacterial properties (it does not retain perspiration odours) allow it to be worn much more often than cotton. Get into the habit ofairing out your clothing after use, and you'll find that it's almost magical!

Thanks to the care taken by our weaving houses, most of our merino wool pieces are machine washable (except our Gaston trousers). Of course, in a suitable programme: 30°, wool programme, without softener, and filling half the drum.

But we still recommend dry cleaning to increase the life of the piece.

For stains, marseille soap will work wonders if you rub gently with a damp sponge.

question 3 a) what are the best antiperspirant materials?

3 b) what is the best fabric for summer?

3 c) does viscose make you sweat?

3 d) what is the 3 layer system?

Sweat and heat question the way we dress every day. This is one of the main reasons for the creation of the Wolbe brand!

We have therefore devoted an extensive dossier to this issue in the "sweating" of our blog

First, we explain the mechanism of sweating. You will find that it is a physical response to an element of body temperature. We can therefore generally control it: for example, by dressing in breathable materials.

In the second article, you will find out what the best anti-sweat material. In terms of thermoregulation and odour management, merino wool is the best solution. Unfortunately, cotton is not very competitive because although it absorbs well, it does not dry quickly and "sticks" to the skin. Synthetics (e.g. polyester) are efficient in terms of drying but very bad in terms of odour management. The choice is yours!

The 3-layer system represents the ideal combination to be layered so that we are always comfortable in our clothes. Not being cold, not being hot even when moving, always being protected from the weather. A headache for active lives!

The solution comes from the choice of parts/materials breathable to wick away moisture at every level. On the skin - first layer -, on top of your shirt or tee shirt - second layer - and as an outerwear - third layer -. Merino wool is great for this purpose! But beware, if one layer retains perspiration, the whole system falls apart.

question 4 a) what is Tencel?

4 b) What is Lyocell?

4 c) What are the advantages of Tencel®?

The Lyocell is a natural material from wood pulp (beech, bamboo, eucalyptus), artificially processed. And Tencel® is a brand of Lyocell, produced by the Austrian company Lenzing.

In contrast to the viscoseThe processing of Lyocell is eco-friendly: the chemical elements used are "neutral" and 97% of the water used in the production process is recycled in the circuit. At Tencel® the forests are also eco-managed.

The properties of this fibre are also excellent: anti-bacterial - it does not retain the odours of perspiration -, it keeps cool and is very fluid and pleasant to the touch.
